Sixteen WI Members assembled at
Colchester Croquet Club on Wednesday 8th July 2009 for our Golf
Croquet Day, Gill Warner (Steward) welcomed members and all
enjoyed a coffee/tea before commencing play, the weather stayed
dry throughout the day with the occasional glimpse of sunshine.
Members became familiar with their mallets and techniques of
play during the morning session, assisted by Jane and her team
of instructors. A delicious lunch was enjoyed by all, Linda Keable (Steward) thanked the catering ladies on behalf of the members and play continued into the afternoon, culminating in a Doubles play off which produced the following results. | Nearly 150 Essex WI members
descended on Aldeburgh on Tuesday 14th July. We were able to walk along the front in sunny weather under the wide East Anglian sky. Most of us then enjoyed a fish and chip lunch. There was also time to visit some of the traditional shops on the High Street. After lunch the coaches took us the short distance to Snape Maltings where there was plenty to see and do. The weather was still lovely so members were able to walk along the path by the River Orde and of course there was time to sit out side for a cup of tea before rejoining the coaches for a very easy trip back to Essex. |
